Maxwell-Gunter Community Libraries

As community libraries, we provide reading materials and information resources for the base populations. It is our goal to maintain materials of general interest to our customers. We support all education office programs offered by Troy State at Montgomery as well as other colleges and universities. We welcome you to the base community and encourage you to utilize our materials and resources during your stay at Maxwell and Gunter.  We are here for you--remember if you have questions, please ask!

WHO MAY USE THE LIBRARY?

  • Active duty military personnel and their dependents.
  • DoD civilians and their dependents.
  • Retired military personnel.
  • Active duty Air Force/Army Reservists.
  • Troy State students.
  • TDY personnel.

LOAN PERIOD

  • All library materials are charged out for a 15-day period.

RENEWALS

  • Books may be renewed by phone or by returning them to the library on or before the due date. Books on reserve may not be renewed. Books may be renewed up to three times.

RESERVE BOOKS

  • Customers may place a reserve for books in the circulating collection by filling out a reserve card at the circulation desk. Customers will be notified by phone when the book is available.

OVERDUES

  • Two notices will be sent to the individual. A third notice/statement of charge will be sent to the individual as well as his/her commanding officer. Borrowing privileges will be suspended on the first notice.

ADULT COLLECTION AND SERVICES

  • The adult collection includes compact discs, CLEP videos, self improvement tapes, books-on-tape, periodicals, music cassettes, McNaughton and large print collections. Besides basic reference collections, other reference services include computers and scanners for customer use.

CHILDREN'S COLLECTION AND SERVICES

  • The library has a collection of children's books, magazines, picture books with cassettes and small reference collections. The library also presents special programs during the summer and in conjunction with holidays. Every Tuesday morning 10:30 - 11 a.m. is Story Time for ages three - five.  For more information, call 953-6484.  For High Schoolers, we provide a link to the High School Digital Resources page, which is maintained by the University of Alabama
