  • Friday: 0730-1700 (documents cage closes at 1700)
  • Saturday: 1100-1700 (documents cage CLOSED on Saturday)
  • Sunday: CLOSED

CLOSING procedures begin 15 minutes BEFORE closing time!


Need a Book from the Gunter Annex???

  • Find the book's record in our online catalog (preferably from a NIPRNET computer)
  • Print the record
  • Print your name, phone number, and email on the page
  • Give the page to a person at the circulation desk
  • The circulation department will call or email you (usually within a few days) when the book has been retrieved

Database Update

  • Previously, we have offered online access to several parts of the Jane's database. Beginning in 2012, the only section of Jane's online will be Defence Weekly. The Jane's print materials are still available in the library.
  • The Oxford Islamic Studies Online database will also be discontinued.

Construction on the New Library Wing has Begun!!

  • Expected Timeframe: 18 July 2011 - January 2013.
  • Plans call for an HVAC, electrical and plumbing upgrades, plus additional shelf space and work areas for staff in the existing structure. A new 17,000 square foot 2-story addition will house group study rooms, the Special Collections/Cartographic area, and Interlibrary Loan Office.

Upon completion, FRIC will:

  • Offer individual or small group study/project rooms equipped with state-of-the-art IT support.
  • Provide AU faculty and student training sessions that will maximize use of online resources via a 25-seat computer lab/training room.
  • Gain expanded shelf space for print collections in a temperature/humidity controlled, energy saving environment.
  • Provide more efficient customer service in the areas of Interlibrary Loan, Special Collections, and Cartographic support.

Need to scan??

  • We have two scanners and scanning software for patron use.
  • You'll need to pick up a blue folder at the Reference Desk in order to email your scanned material.

Computer Resources

  • NIPERNET: CAC holders have access to 11 .mil computers and 2 printers located in the reference and periodicals sections. Some students will need a token card.
  • DREN: There are 20 DREN computers available for long-term AU students with DREN accounts. These print to the four large copier/printers in the copy room. With DRENs you can access both .mil and personal email, and you can access the databases without passwords. DRENs are located in the periodicals area and on each floor near the elevator/stairs.
  • WIRELESS OUTREACH NETWORK: Seven wireless PCs are available in the reference and scanner areas. You can also use the Outreach network with your own laptop or iPad, or you can check out one of our laptops at the circulation desk. Pick up a blue password folder at the reference desk.
  • SCANNERS: We have two scanner stations with new software and wireless Internet access.
