The American Council on Education recommends college credit for several Air University schools/courses. Graduates of these schools/courses desiring academic credit should request a transcript be sent from

Many Air University schools/courses are affiliated with the Community College of the Air Force. Graduates of these schools/courses may apply for course credit through the Registrar, CCAF, Maxwell AFB AL 36112-6613. • Higher Education Programs, from DANTES, include American Council on Education (ACE), which evaluates credit for military experiences, and SOC, which provides college courses tailored to military members
  • Servicemembers Opportunity Colleges (SOC), a network of 1200 colleges with programs designed to fit with military career, moves, TDY, etc.

• Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education "is the leading typology of American colleges and universities. It is the framework in which institutional diversity in U.S. higher education is commonly described."

• In the Classifications Document many of the military institutions are found under the "other specialized institutions" category.
