Acknowledgments I have studied the listening process extensively and spoken on the subject hundreds of times. And still I am not the effective listener I would like to be. That fact makes writing this book difficult.
Still, I wanted to share what I know about listening. I have done this by using many personal examples and providing numerous explanatory and prescriptive lists. I think you’ll find some things to help you be a better listener.
I thank my wife, Ann, and our five grown children, Teri, Marc, Nanette, Missy, and especially our Down’s syndrome son David, for teaching me the importance of listening effectively.
