Aligning text

Any text you display on your page can be placed in several positions in relation to the margins. This includes any paragraphs and headings. Text can be placed in one of three positions, left, center or right.

Left/Center/Right Justification

Headers will automatically justify to the left hand margin. To place a header in the center of the page use the following code:

<H2 ALIGN=CENTER>This is the text</H2>

This is the text

or

<Center><H2>This is the text</H2></CENTER>

This is the text

In order to move the text to the right margin, just change the center to right!

<H2 ALIGN=RIGHT>This is the text</H2>

This is the text

Centering Text

When you need to center a paragraph, use the center tag: <CENTER>Text</CENTER>. Remember the center tag must have a closing tag. You could get some unexpected results if you are not careful.

Block Quotes

Blockquotes are used when quoting text. This tag will cause the text to indent from the left and right. This allows the text to stand out from the rest of the document. The tag is: <BLOCKQUOTE>The text to be quoted</BLOCKQUOTE>. Again since this is a closed tag, be sure to use the ending tag!

The text to be quoted. Blockquotes are used when quoting text. This tag will cause the text to indent from the left and right. This allows the text to stand out from the rest of the document. The tag is: <BLOCKQUOTE> The text to be quoted </BLOCKQUOTE>

Notice the the preceding paragraph has been indented from the left and right margins of your browser's window, causing the text to standout.
