Preformatted Text

Instructions, notices etc

Documents that have been generated within older word processor programs can be displayed as web documents very easily. By using pre-formated text, line spacing, blank spaces, tabs etc can be maintained. Save the document from within your word processor as an ASCII.TXT file. How this is done is beyond the scope of this document. Please refer to the documentation for your word processor.

The tags for pre-formatted text are:
The text to be displayed!

A note on using pre-formatted text, the text does not format itself to the browser. If the text line is 80 characters wide, the browser will display a scroll bar at the bottom of the screen. All text will hold its position in relation to other text.

With the example below, I have tabbed the first line over 5 spaces and placed hard returns at the end of each line. Shrink your browser window when looking at this page. All normal text will reformat for the window size you are using. Pre-formatted text will give a scroll bar since the text it to wide for the window.

Also notice the font change. Pre-formated text looks more like typewritten text.
