Department of Leadership and Ethics
Visit also our Center for Strategic Leadership Studies
with resources useful for any organization.Leadership and Ethics prepares Air War College students to lead in the strategic environment through the study and application of individual and organizational principles, practices, and ethics. Shifts the student's focus from the direct tactical level of leadership (applying ethical standards and the leadership and management of individuals and small units) to the indirect strategic levels of leadership (establishing and maintaining ethical standards and the indirect leadership of large units/organizations through subordinate commanders).
The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) and the Leadership Mirror, a 360-feedback program, support the entire Leadership and Ethics course, your time at the War College, and most importantly the rest of your career. We offer these two opportunities for your personal leadership development. The MBTI will help you understand your personal preferences (and those of your classmates and family members). This awareness will help you build relationships, avoid blind spots, and put together balanced teams. The Leadership Mirror instrument, as developed by the Air Force Office of Force Development, incorporates feedback from your supervisor, peers, and subordinates. It includes detailed, confidential feedback from a qualified counselor and will help you measure your development in a number of areas vital to success as a senior leader. With this knowledge, you can focus your reading, refine your personal development program, and perhaps even take electives that will help you maximize strengths and minimize weaknesses.
