Dr Lawrence E. Grinter is Professor of Asian Studies at the Air War College's Department of International Security Studies, Maxwell AFB, Alabama. A previous Director of East Asian Studies at the National War College, Dr Grinter is co-editor/author of five books on East Asian security affairs including Security, Strategy and Policy in the Pacific Rim (Rienner), East Asian Conflict Zones (St.Martin's), and Looking Back on the Vietnam War (Greenwood). He has published over 50 scholarly articles and contributed to various government studies. Dr Grinter is also an Associate of the Air Force Counterproliferation Center. He earned his PhD at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. His special areas of expertise are security issues in China, Taiwan, Northeast Asia and Southeast Asia. His most recent work includes publications on US policy toward China-Taiwan, Vietnam's global engagement, US -Chinese competition in Southeast Asia, and North Korea's nuclear weapons policy.

Colonel Steven M. Griswold, USAF, serves as Dean of Students and joined the AWC leadership team in Jun 2011. He has served in operational, support, command and staff assignments at a variety of levels to include Squadron, Group, Wing, Numbered Air Force, MAJCOM, Air Staff, Joint and NATO. A former ICBM operations officer, he was also part of the initial cadre of the Air Force Doctrine Center, served in the Office of Military Cooperation-Kuwait as the Director of Training, and served on the staff of the Stabilization Forces Air Component and Kosovo Forces Air Component Commander, and Sixteenth Air and Space Expeditionary Task Force during Operations JOINT FORGE and JOINT GUARDIAN in the Balkans. Col Griswold also served on the staff of the Air Force Deputy Chief of Staff for Air and Space Operations, as Executive Officer to the Commander, Air Combat Command, and as Director of Staff, HQ Air Combat Command. In his most recent assignment he was dual-hatted as the Director of Staff, Spaatz Center for Officer Education and Commander, Education Support Squadron. He holds a B.S. degree from the University of Alabama-Birmingham and Masters degrees in Business Administration from Touro University and Strategic Studies from the Air War College. His professional military education includes SOS in residence, Air Command and Staff College by correspondence and Air War College in residence.

Captain Harvey L. Guffey, Jr., USN, is the Chairman of the Department of Strategy. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from North Carolina State University in May 1986. He attended Naval Officer Candidate School and was commissioned in September 1986. Following the completion of Nuclear Power Training and Basic Submarine School, Captain Guffey was assigned to USS MARIANO G. VALLEJO (SSBN 658) as a Division Officer until August 1991. Additional submarine assignments included Engineer Officer on USS CHEYENNE (SSN 773) and Executive Officer on USS SEAWOLF (SSN 21). Captain Guffey served as Commanding Officer of USS SAN JUAN (SSN 751) from April 2004 to October 2006. He has made deployments to the Mediterranean Sea, Indian Ocean, and Northern Atlantic Ocean. Additionally, he has extensive experience in submarine maintenance, having completed New Construction on USS CHEYENNE and multiple shipyard maintenance availabilities. Captain Guffey's shore assignments include tours as an instructor at Naval Nuclear Power School, as a junior member of the Atlantic Fleet Nuclear Propulsion Examining Board, and as the Deputy Assistant for Plans, Liaison and Assessments for Submarine Warfare Division on the staff of the Chief of Naval Operations. He attended the Naval War College and earned a Masters Degree in National Security and Strategic Studies, graduating with Distinction in November 2007. Most recently, he served as Deputy Commander, Submarine Squadron 4, in Groton, CT.

Dr Amit Gupta is an Associate Professor in the Department of International Security Studies. His research and publications have focused on weapons proliferation, arms control, South Asian security issues, globalization, and Australian security policy.
