Welcome and congratulations on being selected to attend the United States Air Force Air War College (AWC) – the premier Senior Developmental Education (SDE) institution in the Department of Defense. You can be proud of your designation to attend AWC and honored that your senior leadership sees you as possessing the capability and potential to lead our nation into the future at the highest levels.
The AWC experience is a challenging and fulfilling course of study offering a unique opportunity to pause and reflect personally as you become better equipped professionally. Your incoming resident Class of 2013 will be made up of nearly 250 students from every US military service, several federal agencies, and approximately 45 other nations. It is likely you will renew existing relationships during your time at Maxwell, but it is clear you will form new bonds lasting long after you leave the halls of AWC. The friendships developed here have proven to be some of the most important for the future success of your career.
This college will help educate you in the capabilities of air, space, and cyberspace power – and assist you in applying that learning at strategic levels. My job as Dean, and that of my Student Operations staff, is to aid you in your educational experience. In sum, we provide support squadron type functions to every student for most non-academic areas.
As an incoming student, you should go to the Student Operations - Do Immediately link of this web site and review each important area. In addition, please contact our student administrator at 334-953-5190 (DSN 493-5190), awc.studentops@maxwell.af.mil for assistance in getting started with your transition to AWC.
I look forward to welcoming you personally to AWC, and to working alongside you throughout the academic year.
