award associate and master’s degrees. Air University achieved regional
accreditation in June 2004, effective at the beginning of the 2004
calendar year. Now a part of Air University’s regional accreditation, both
the Community College of the Air Force (CCAF) and the School of

SACS earlier—CCAF in 1980 and SAASS in 1998.
What is accreditation?
Please check your target AU ABC school’s accredition source to ensure that school and program will meet your unique educational requirements.
A key question to ask yourself: will the baccalaureate program I am considering be acceptable to the potential graduate school(s) where I might eventually apply?
Another question to ponder: if for some reason I do not complete the baccalaureate program, will the course I ’ve completed transfer to another college or university (such as one of my home state’s public universities)?
Accreditation is a process of external quality review used by higher education to scrutinize colleges, universities and educational programs for quality assurance and quality improvement. In the United States, accreditation is carried out by private, nonprofit organizations designed for this specific purpose. Institutions and educational programs seek accredited status as a means of demonstrating their academic quality to students and the public and to become eligible for federal funds.
